On March 28, 2025, a devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar, resulting in over 1,600 fatalities and thousands of injuries. In response, India initiated 'Operation Brahma', a disaster relief and rescue operation led by the Indian Army. The mission involved deploying specialized medical teams, establishing field hospitals, and delivering over 656 metric tons of aid. By April 9, Indian medical teams had treated more than 2,500 patients and performed 65 major surgeries in the affected regions.
